Gathering an interdisciplinary team of experts who have studied Syrian migration for several years, we build on research on migrant homemaking and on social integration. Our research question is: How can we understand migrants’ belonging, social, cultural and economic wellbeing, and community integration via in-depth research on food practices?
In order to do so, the research focuses firstly on how Syrian women create belonging and “home” via cooking; secondly on the effect of economics and survival on food making practices; and thirdly on how food is involved in bridging and social integration.
